In order to make your reminder messages effective, you must first have your audience segmented. Reminding your customers of a promo or event that is not relevant to that customer’s purchase history and buying behavior is a waste of time and resources.

The average person is exposed to more than 6,000 ads per day.

Between TV, social media, radio, and print, the average consumer is inundated with promos from the time they wake up, until they fall asleep again.

Your little dispensary can hardly compete with big brands that can afford to pump out ad, after ad, after ad in order to constantly stay seen by their audience.

So what can you do to stand out?

Improve your targeting, and your timing.

I’m talking about “Reminder Marketing”.

People underestimate how powerful a simple reminder at the perfect time is for your customers.

Knowing when your customer is due to run out of weed, and what products they usually buy allows you to message them when they’re already thinking about re-upping, and offer them a product/deal you know they like.

That’s how you stay on top-of-mind at the most important time: When they’re ready to buy.

Here’s 6 ways you can effectively use reminder marketing to sell more weed:

1. Re-Stock Reminders:

A lot of canna users (myself included) have a routine when buying weed.

On average, I stop into my dispo of choice once a week. Usually on the weekends.

If I was head of marketing for that dispensary, I’d have segments titled

  • Daily shoppers

  • Weekly shoppers

  • Bi-weekly shoppers

  • Monthly shoppers

These segments would be used strictly for purchase cycle alerts.

Schedule your reminder messages for a day or 2 before their usual pickup day.

Timing can make a huge difference in marketing; reminding your customer that they’re running low on their favorite product and that YOU have it RIGHT NOW is extremely enticing.

2. Deals and Promotions:

Your customers are not gonna remember your promos.

Remember, you’re one of more than 6 THOUSAND ads they’ll see today.

That’s why timely reminders of your deals are so powerful.

When your customers are segmented properly, you know

  • What products they like

  • When they like to pick them up

In other words, you know which deals they’ll go for, and when they’ll go for them.

Keep your segments from the Re-Stock Reminder alerts so you know when to contact them, but segment by purchase history too so you’re always promoting relevant deals to them.

3. Loyalty Program Notifications:

Point Updates: Send updates about loyalty points and rewards to encourage more purchases. Use actual progress bars in your emails for regular reminders to use their points, or to show that they’re close to the next loyalty tier.

Reward Redemption: Remind customers of unclaimed rewards or upcoming expirations to keep them engaged with the loyalty program. Remind them that they’re getting the most exclusive deals since they’re loyalty members, too.

I will never understand businesses that don’t request feedback from their customers. If you want to make money, have a loyal following, and constantly produce satisfied customers, you have to have a customer-focused business strategy.

Collecting feedback from actual customers and making improvements to your business, marketing, and overall customer experience is critical.
