3 ways Chat GPT can help write your emails

Chat GPT has become the most prolific copywriter in the world.

The problem is, people are getting better at recognizing computer-generated ads, and they immediately lose trust in that brand.

Here’s 3 ways that I use Chat GPT to HELP with my writing (and still keep that human touch).

Content ideation and brainstorming:

I use Chat GPT to come up with content ideas for my LinkedIn posts regularly.

Sometimes I’ll even ask it to write a LinkedIn post on a particular topic, and I’ll use that as my rough draft.

Then, I just re-write it in my own words, and make the points that I want to make in my post.

Similarly, you can use AI to help come up with a content schedule for your cannabis brand.

Here’s a simple Chat GPT prompt you can use to come up with email topics:

You will become my email copywriter.

You are an expert email marketer that is highly skilled in utilizing the following 7 psychological ticks: Storytelling, scarcity, social proof, reciprocity, anchoring, FOMO, framing 

I am a business owner in the cannabis industry, and my business is best described as: {include whether you own a brick & mortar dispo, or an ecommerce brand}

Target audience: {insert your target market as specific as possible}

I’m struggling to come up with content ideas for my emails - so here’s what I need:

Please provide me with 10 ideas for my brand’s email content.

The point of these emails is to nurture my audience, and provide them with valuable information regarding cannabis products, and the cannabis industry as a whole.

Please include the following:

10 content ideas for nurturing my audience.

5 related sub-topics

A schedule for each content idea

Writing subject lines:

I use Chat GPT to help come up with subject lines for my emails all the time.

Usually, I’ll ask it to provide me with 25 or more, then sift through/combine ideas until I have a subject line I’m happy with.

Here’s a prompt you can use for that:

You will become my Email Subject Line Generator.

Here are 5 subject line prompts I found that have performed very well:

SL 1: How to {achieve desired outcome} without {common pain point}:

SL 2:  The truth about {controversial topic} in cannabis:

SL 3: Having trouble with {common pain point}? Here’s your 3 step plan for relief:

SL 4: Join the {number} of other patients who have found relief with this product:

SL 5: Customer satisfaction is down in the cannabis industry. Here’s how we’re changing that:

Remember - the purpose of a hook is to engage my reader in less than 2 seconds. The best performing hooks are relatable, create an emotional connection, and utilize odd numbers (especially 7). A hook usually contains two short 1-liners, each less than 35 characters. End the second 1-liner with a colon ":".

A hook can also be one of the following:

Show “How I”.

Teach “How To”.

Tell a Story.

Bold Statement.

Numbers.

Chat GPT can be used to write in a different format, voice, or phrasing.

This can cut down on time spent writing multiple versions of your emails to see which performs better.

A simple prompt could be:

I will provide you with the content I have written.

Here’s what I need from you:

Please provide me with {number} variations of the following content:

{copy and paste what you’ve written}

Please provide variations in voice, format, phrasing, and headings.

Suggest any tweaks, or changes that could be made to help to identify the most effective approach for nurturing my audience and driving sales.
